The rewards of success don't always come in sports even if merited. But after a wonderful campaign this season last Saturday our u13s achieved what they truly deserved winning the Louth B Championship versus St. Marys Ardee. On a day filled with a clear blue sky and glorious sun hosts Dowdallshill GFC had the pitch and facilities in perfect condition. Only one outcome was required to mark a memorable day.

By half-time, the lads were up by 1.4 to 1.1 with a well-taken early goal to inspire confidence. But the task was only half completed and as expected St. Marys came out determined in the second half. In the early stages of this half the lads played with style, speed, skill, and wonderfully flowing football soon going 6 points ahead. Then the St. Marys surge came. With 15mins to go the Gers were only 2 points up having dominated the entire game. But as evident all year they responded with hard work and supreme effort across the entire field. A well-taken goal restored their rhythm and a return to a 5-point lead. And from there until the very end, they pressed hard. In truth but for the fine defence of St. Marys, they could have even yielded a few more goals.
In end they emerged victorious on an impressive scoreline of 4.8 to 2.8. Parents and members of the Club present shared in their joy as the cup was presented. Celebrating afterwards in the Clubhouse the lads were delighted to receive a surprise visit from county star Conor Early, and cousin of one of the boys.

Thanks to all parents and Club officials for their support throughout the year.

Well done to every single panel member for their part in creating a wonderful team spirit this year.
