Geraldines Senior Mens Team made it 2 wins out of 2 in the Sheelan Cup. The Gers got off to a flying start opening with a 4 point lead with 2 points from play from Shane Thornton, another from play from Fearghal McDonald and a free from Dara Hamill. Young Irelands hit back with point from a free and then a mistake from the Gers gifted them a goal, making it a draw game with 15 minutes gone. Gers and Young Irelands exchanged points until Dara Hamill smashed a goal in for the Gers. Gers added another point straight away from Dara Hamill but both teams exchanged points up until half time.
The Gers entered the second half with a 4 point lead, 1-9 to 1-5. The Gers got the first 2 points of the 2nd half. Another Irelands free kept the town side within touching distance. The 2nd half never got the free flowing football because both teams got involved in pushing and shoving matches. Young Irelands scored the next 2 points to put 3 points between the teams. Looking like Young Irelands were getting back into the contest, they were reduced to 14 men when their corner back was sent off for a striking offence. The Gers finished off the game with 2 pointed free from Dara Hamill. Gers winning by 6 points in a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-7.
