The u13 boys travelled to Drogheda to play St. Nicolas on Saturday evening.

The Drogheda outfit are top of the league table and this would be a good test for the Haggardstown lads.

The home side started brightly and aided by a light breeze had the better of the first period, and led 11-2 at the break, with 2 points Roan Norton all Gers had to show for their efforts. St Nicolas had been more accurate with their shooting, while the Gers lads struggled to convert possession into scores.

The second half was a different affair, as the Gers lads finally found their shooting boots. The sides traded scores in the initial stages, with Joe Lynch scoring the first 2 Gers points. The home side responded with the only goal of the game, but to their credit the Gers lads rallied and finished strongly with 7 points, including Sean Spaight (4), Aaron O’Donoghue (2) and Roan Norton (1). The late revival was not enough and the home side secured the points.

The spirit shown by the Gers lads was commendable, with great effort and enthusiasm shown by all the lads.

Iarracht iontach ó na buachaillí go léir !!
