Our u15 boys had a narrow win over N. Fionnbarra on monday evening in their final championship group game. The Gers had the wind advantage in the first half but were slow to make use at 6:30pmf it in the opening 10 minutes when they failed to capitalise on good possession around the midfield area. The finbarrs scored 2 goals against the run of play before the Gers began to move the ball quicker and were rewarded with 4 goals from Alex oKane, CillianLynch and Noah Luaki(2). Cillian and Alex added some impressive points from both frees and play and The ever dangerous Ryan McCutcheon added a point and contributed several assists. Oliver Begley was winning lots of possession and scored a good point to leave the Gers with a commanding lead of 4-10 to 2-2 at half time. After a rocky 1st 10 minutes, the defence got to grips with the opposition withPadraig corcoran, Cormac Broe and Owen McGahon all very solid while Aodhan Gibbins and Finn Madine weorked hard and used pissesuon well to set up several scores
With the aid of the wind the Finbarrs took advantage of some loose defending in the 2nd half adding 4 goals and 3 points and looked to be on course to snatch the win before the Gers battled back with 2 super points into the wind to secure a hard fought 1 point win and top the group.
The boys have a home game against O'Connell's/Stabannon/Lannleire in the quarter final next Monday.
