The King leads Gers D&L’s to Victory
The Gers Dads and Lads headed for Banbridge on Saturday morning for the Clann na Banna Paddy Simpson D&L Blitz. There were 10 teams in attendance split into 2 groups of 5. First up for the Gers were the home favourites, who would inflict the only defeat of the day on the Gers. A win in the second game v Carryduff/Bredagh was followed by a draw with Armagh Rec before recording a second group win with victory over Eire Óg in the final match. The 2 wins and a draw from the group stages would see the Gers contesting one of the Plate semi finals against Aghaderg, with a strong performance securing them a place in the final. In a very tight and evenly contested game against Carryduff/Bredagh the Gers would secure the win by a solitary score. It was a great effort by all the men on the day and it is the second year in a row that the Plate has been won by the Gers. As they say, Age is just a Number ! Our thanks to Clann na Banna for hosting and to all clubs involved for making it a very enjoyable day. All money raised on the day was in aid of the PIPS charity.
