Geraldines draw with the St. Fechins
In their first game in over 5 weeks, the Geraldines Girls U15s travelled to Termonfeckin for a challenge match on Monday evening.
The Geraldines took an early lead with some fantastic scores by Ruby Walker, Anna Cosgrove, Emily Clune, Anna McGrory, and Aoife Sweeney. With some strong defending by Muireann Rogers with lots of ground covered by Naomi Read and Amy Lynch who fed the ball into the forward line.
A defensive wall made up of Nessa McCrystal and Ailbhe McKenna kept the Fechins out and at half time the Geraldines girls led by a 3-04 to 0-01 point scoreline.
The second half took a slower pace with the lack of game time over the last month evident. Some great balls were won by Fia Healy and Issey McGeough.
The Fechins scored an impressive three goals and four points in the first 20 minutes of the second half matched only by 1 super point by Elizabeth McGahon.
Eva Neary, Lily Mae Fennelly and Miliani Lauaki dug deep in their wing positions to keep the ball in Geraldines possession.
An outstanding performance by Alannah Lynch in goals prevented keeping the opposition scoreline at bay for the last ten minutes.
Another goal by Anna Cosgrove and the spectacular equalizer by Abbie Durnin resulted in a draw game at the full-time whistle.
Final Score: Gers 5–05 vs St. Fechins 3-11.
