Round 1 Minor Championship: Cooley vs. Geraldine’s

The Geraldines started with impetus early in the first 15 minutes as they were 1-4 to 1-1 ahead after a well-executed goal by man of the match on the night Cian Spaight. Defensively the Gers were doing well in the first half with Shea Neary and Darragh Fanning intercepting vital ball.

The Geraldines went in 1-6 to 1-5 ahead at Half Time after a spirited performance.

The second half was very nip in tuck in the opening exchanges with both defences on top as both teams were wasteful in front of goal.

However, Cooley started to engineer a few scores after the Geraldines received a black card.

Cooley ran out four-point winners as the Gers lads got caught out on the counterattack twice late on when they should have converted at the other end.

Next up is a winner-takes-all match to see who will advance to the quarter-final, on Thursday night at home to Naomh Mairtin in a repeat of the league semi Final.
