The Geraldines Senior Men's team lost to Mattock Rangers by five points in the Paddy Sheelan Cup.

In challenging circumstances in Haggardstown, a late goal by the Collon men completed the victory.

Jim McEneaney's free put the Geraldines on the scoresheet, and he would go on to score two more points for the home side. However, Mattock scored seven scores in the first half, leading by four points at the break.

Half time: Geraldines 0-03 to 0-07 Mattock Rangers.

Early in the second half, Mattock and the Geraldines traded scores, with the away team leading by four points.

However, McEneaney's long ball into the goal area caused the Mattock keeper to spill the ball on his line, allowing Conor Rafferty to toe-poke the ball home from close range.

Up until three minutes remaining, the score remained at a two-point lead for the away side until Mattock's goal restored a five-point lead.

Before the final whistle after exchanging one more point between the two sides, Mattock defeated the Geraldines 1–08 to 1–13.
