Round 2: Regional minor league Geraldines vs St.Fechins
The Gers minors came out on the right side of an evenly encountered game on Thursday evening. The game was certainly the proverbial game of two halves with St.Fechins dominating the opening half aided by a strong wind.
St.Fechins went in 1-9 to 2-0 at halftime.
Full-back Mal Madine was assured at the back, while wing-back Noah Luaki scored a wonder goal as he ran from his half down the right wing and fired home from a tight angle.
Despite the Gers lad's struggles in the first half, Eoghan Sweeney tackled relentlessly from the corner forward forcing three turnovers from the Fechins men which was integral as one of them led to a goal flicked to the net by Aódhan Gibbons.
The Gers lads picked it up in the second half and took the game to the Fechins led by man of the match Shea Neary who pushed into midfield and Cormac Broe who was introduced at halftime. The Gers were goal hungry as the clinical Gibbons netted twice more from close range while the impressive Cillian Lynch ended with a personal tally of 1-4.
