The Geraldines had four representatives who played at the Under 16 Gothia Cup in Sweden, the team are on their way home after being knocked out at the quarter-final stage.

Julie Soroghan, Alannah Lynch, Ailish Fee and Aoife Soroghan who all play as part of our Under 16 panel represented a Louth schoolgirls panel in the tournament that sees teams from around the world come and compete in this prestigious tournament.

The Louth school girls secured passage from their group stages to play Swedish team SigntunaMärsta Utd Fk in the play-off B final 16 on Thursday evening. 

They beat the Swedish side 2-0 and were fixed to play German team KFV Segeberg in the quarter-final on Friday morning. 

Unfortunately, they came up against a very strong group of girls and lost 5-1 to bow out of the Gothia Cup. 

The German team were to make it to the Final of the tournament. 

The Louth School girls had a fantastic week making memories and we are extremely proud of the efforts of our girls, especially Julie, Alannah, Ailish and Aoife.
