On Friday evening the Geraldines Under 11 boys welcomed the Under 11 St Fechins team to McGeough Park.
The Geraldines boys started well moving the ball through the hands towards the goal but a good defensive display by the Fechins lads kept the scoring low in the opening encounters.
The interruption by way of a heavy cloudburst didn’t dampen the enthusiasm as the Gers boys settled well once play resumed and began taking some good scores of both left and right feet to establish a good lead at halftime.
To their credit, the Fechins boys were strong in the second half but some fine defensive performances may have made it a closer affair.
The coaches were very impressed that all the Gers lads played tirelessly with determination throughout despite some tough conditions and strong opposition.
There were many fine individual performances on the night not least of which was newcomer Filip Stramek who impressed in his first of what we hope are many memorable games with the Gers.
Many thanks to St Fechins and all the parents who turned out despite the poor conditions.
Our Under 11 boys are kindly sponsored by Haggardstown Garden Centre and we thank them for their continued support.
