U15 Boys Championship Update
Gers u15 boys started their Championship with wins over Baile Talún and Newtown Blues in the last week.
The 1st round was played in a rain-soaked Tallanstown on Monday 26th Aug. Underfoot conditions were slippy and a cross-pitch wind meant playing conditions were far from ideal even though the pitch itself was in fine condition. Our lads were slow to start conceding a goal within the first 5 minutes but battled back to score a goal of their own and leave the halftime score 1-2 apiece. The 2nd half started in much the same vein where scores were hard to come by and defences were on top. Baile Talún went a point ahead with 20 mins left but fine defensive work and good scores saw the Gers boys finish out with a 2-point win in a hard-fought but entertaining encounter. Final score
Geraldines 1.07
Baile Talún 1.05
On Monday, the 2nd, we hosted Newtown Blues in McGeough Park and started impressively racing into an early lead. Strong midfield dominance and resolute defending gave us a 12-point lead at halftime.
The second half opened up where the boys played some entertaining football and took some fine scores.
Final score Geraldines 6.14 vs Newtown Blues 2.04
