PRESS RELEASE - GERALDINES GFC
Geraldines GFC is pleased to announce it has joined the GAA Green Club programme.
The Green Club Programme was established to support Gaelic Games clubs in taking simple and effective sustainability action in their grounds and activities. The Programme is structured around the themes of Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity and Travel & Transport and is designed to promote sustainability awareness and action in GAA clubs and communities.
The club is currently focusing on Energy, Biodiversity and Waste.
Under Energy, Solar Panels, LED and Motion Sensor Lighting are being considered.
Under Biodiversity, the club intends to plant suitable flower bulbs to create a natural habitat for insects. Last year an 800-metre pathway was installed for walkers & joggers and these flowers will also enhance the experience for the users.
Under the theme of Waste, the club is already taking part in a recycling initiative with the installation of a return bottle bin that both club members and the public can avail of.
Geraldines' membership of the GAA Green Club programme is a commitment to further enhancing its role in creating a club that promotes future sustainability.
