Geraldines GFC Club Notes
Monday 4th February 2019
- Congratulations to Louth on a great win v Laois at Croke Park on Saturday. Well done to the 3 Gers boys on the panel in Dan Corcoran, James Craven and Jim McEneaney. We wish Dan a speedy recovery from the injury he picked up in the game.
- Hard luck to the Louth Ladies who were unlucky to come away from their opening national league game in Limerick without any points. Final score was 0-11 to 1-7. The Geraldines were represented by Eilis Hand, Rebecca Carr and Alannah Finn on Sunday.
- The Seniors had another challenge match on Sunday morning and narrowly lost out to Kingscourt in a keenly contested match. Great to get more minutes under the belt and progress is being made by all. Well done to all involved.
- The club will hold their Juvenile Registration Evening on Friday 8th February in the clubhouse from 6.30 – 7.30 pm followed by a short presentation to show what is being done behind the scenes and the plans being made for 2019 and beyond. Spot prizes available on the night and coaches will be present to speak with parents. If you are thinking of joining or just interested in finding out more, then please come along and chat to one of our many coach and volunteers.
- Our U14 girls played a couple of tough friendlies on Sunday morning in very poor conditions. Great to get some competitive game time, and next week sees them travel to Armagh. Well done to the players who made themselves available and to all involved.
- Both our U8 & U10 boys participated in Saturdays Louth Blitz held in DkIT. There was a great turn out in both age groups with all teams performing and competing well. The winter training has definitely been beneficial. Both coaches and kids excited for the 2019 season.
- Our community walk in association with Operation Transformation and the Ireland Lights Up initiative continues this Thursday. Last week saw 82 registered walkers brave the freezing conditions. Well done to all who came out, you certainly earned the hot drink afterwards! Please come out and join us with registration from 6.45 pm and refreshments served in the kitchen afterwards.
- Our Schools Development Programme continues this Friday in both St. Francis and St. Fursey’s schools. Our thanks to Frank Lynch & Company, https://twitter.com/FrankLynchCo , for their generous support.
- Our Juvenile Winter Development Programme continues this Saturday @ DkIT Sports for U12 and above. Please check with your coaches if unsure of your timeslot.
