Division 1 Round 9
21st June 2019
On Friday night our Senior Mens team secured their semi final place in the Cardinal O’Donnell with an emphatic win over the Sean O’Mahonys. Josh Arrowsmith got the Gers started on the 4th minute. This was followed up by James Craven with a fisted point followed straight after an O’Mahonys point. Gers got their 3rd point of the 1st half with a Jim McEneaney free. The next four points from the Gers came from Dara Hamill and Jim McEneaney with the pick being a point from Jim set by Hamill who’s one handed catch was something out of the NFL. Fearghal McDonald got his regular point from half back. The final point of the first half came from Jim McEneaney which started outside the right of the post and curled over.
Halftime Gers 0-9 Sean O’Mahonys 0-1
The 2nd half started with a James Craven point from outside the 45. The O’Mahonys scored their 2nd point of the game 10 minutes into the second half. 3 quick Dara Hamill points extended the Gers lead. The biggest cheer from the Gers crowd came from a Shane O’Hanlon point who made his comeback from a long term injury. Jim McEneaney scored a 45 after a bit of debate between two Sean and Jim on who was going to take it. Another two points from Shane O’Hanlon and Jim McEneaney along a nicely finish goal from the latter made it a comfortable night for the Gers.
Next game is a home match against The Dreadnots on Friday, 28th June.
