Geraldines 1-14 Dowdallshill 2-13
Geraldines Junior team suffered their second defeat in a row placing the dream management team of Thornton, Thornton, McGorrian, Lynch & O’Brien under increased pressure. The loss of Sean Watters to a recurring groin strain in the warm up prevented him being dropped and allowed Gearoid Dunne make his debut.
A slow start saw the Gers trail by 5 after 5 minutes but a stirring half saw them go in 2-9 to 1-8 in arrears. Shane Rogers concerting a penalty after the rampaging corner back Senan Duffy was fouled just as he was about to kick a wide.
The second half saw the Gers lads improve and actually led by a point at the 3/4 stage even if referee Wally McKenna didn’t think so. The management introduced the youthful Darren O Brien, Joe Conlon and Paul Molloy to see it out but unfortunately the hill scored some fine points to swing the tie. Still it took a great safe from the Dowdallshill keeper denying Cathal O Brien and an amazing miss by Davy Norton to secure the win. Twenty four lads played the game in great spirits and it was another worthwhile run out. As well as Gearoid ,Luke McSherry, Cathal Purcell, Ferdia McDonnell , Paddy Craven and David Norton all made their debuts on the adult teams. Well done lads.
