The Gers Minor Boys recorded their first win of the league/championship against a competitive Kilkerley/Malachys combination. In a first half littered with errors and misplaced passes the Gers really struggled to get any sort of rhythm going with Kilkerley/Malachys playing the better football initially and utilising the early ball inside to good effect. Despite this the boys showed glimpses of what they can do with some slick passing and accurate finishing to stay with their opponents. Both sides would go in at halftime level on 2-06 each. The second half saw the boys up their work rate and intensity and they got some early scores on the board to pull away from their opponents. This half they played with more composure and managed the game better, out scoring the opposition by 2-08 to 0-03 and would run out comfortable winners in the end on a final score of 4-14 to 2-09. The team was Conor Rafferty, Eoin Cassidy, Niall Henry, Sean Connor, Adam Hoban, Jai Akhal, Gavin Lynch, Brian Cafferty 0-01, Beanón Corrigan 0-02, Barra Duffy 0-04, Jamie Callan, Adam Gartlan 0-02, Frank McGrory 0-01, Danny Nordone 2-04, Mark Leavy 2-00, Jack Mulvihill, James Reilly, Conor Smyth, Neil McQuillan, Ferdia McDonnell, Niall Brennan, Senan Carroll and Donal Leavy. Next up is St Kevin’s/Michaels next Thursday in the Gers. Thanks to all who came out and supported the boys.
