Gers Boys U16 Match Report vs St Oliver Plunkets The Gers Boys U16 suffered their second defeat of the League / Championship campaign at home on Monday night to St Oliver Plunkets. With 5-6 regulars unavailable it was always going to be a tough match for the team. Despite a good start taking an early lead from a Barra Duffy free the Gers could not handle the work rate and movement from St Oliver Plunkets and went in 1-6 to 0-2 down at the first half water break. The trend continued in the second quarter with turnovers and unforced errors in advanced positions resulting in 1-2 for St Oliver Plunkets who went on to take a commanding 2-9 to 0-3 lead at half time. Whilst the Gets rallied in the second half the Oliver Plunkets still managed to out score them 1-4 to 1-3. The gers tried their best but were beaten by a hungrier and more committed St OliverPlunkets team going down on a final score of 3-13 to 1-6. The defeat essentially eliminates the Gets from the business end of the league with victory in our final two matches and favorable results elsewhere required to keep our championship semi final hopes alive.
