Geraldines u14 boys sent two squads to the Louth GAA 7 a side competition in Darver on Saturday. Louth are also using this to select players for u14 development squads.
Geraldines Green started off against Ardee and too many wides saw them trail by three at half time. They improved their accuracy in the second half and ended the match 3 points down. The second game against a physically strong Cooley side daw the boys up their game another gear as they matched the peninsula side and a very strong all round team performance saw them outscore their opponents in the scoring system employed of 1 point for a goal or point.
The White team similarly started slowly against the other Ardee team who were too strong and took advantage of poor work rate from the Gers to stay well ahead on the scoreboard. Their was a huge improvement in performance in the second game against O'Connells/Stabannon with much better tracking back and support play and well taken scores that resulted in a comprehensive win.
It was a great mornings football played in a competitive but sporting manner by all teamsteamsteamsteamsteamstea
Thank you to Louth GAA development coaches for organising a great mornings football and to the referees who were excellent.
There is a second 7 a side competition next Saturday.
