Gers U14 boys played their 2nd game in Louth U15 division 2 on Monday evening against Sean O'Mahoney's/Na Piarsaigh/DYIDYI
Despite conceding a goal straight from the throw in the Gers hit back with a goal of their own and played some great football with good passing and support play in an evenly contested first half and they trailed by 2 points at half time having added a further two goals and a pointed free but they would rue some wasted opportunities when players didnt release the ball to team mates in good positions.
In the second half the visitors moved well ahead on the scoreboard as their physical advantage told and our lads began to tire.
Despite trailing on the score board the Gers continued to work hard and never gave up. Some good attacking moves failed to yield scores due to some wayward shooting. It was noticeable how hard the boys who came on as subs worked in the 2nd half with some great tackling and tracking back.
The lads have shown great character facing the challenge of playing a year up and are learning and improving with every game.
Next league match is away to N. Fionnbarra next Monday.
