The Geraldines Mens 2nd team took to the field for first time in the league on Tuesday night against local rivals St.Brides in Division 4B. In the first 5 minutes, Conor McGowan scored 2 great points to make matters even between the sides. However, Brides got on top from here onwards.
They scored 1-6 without reply until Paddy Geoghegan pointed just after the water break. 2 more Gers points from Paul Craven and Conor Rafferty seemed to stem the tide. Brides scored 1-4 before halftime which left an uphill task for our men.
The second half started with a few changes for our men which seemed to lift their spirits. Pointed frees from Patrick Hoey and Conor McGowan added to our tally in between points from St. Brides.
The Gers cleared the bench in the 2nd half and keeping pushing forward to add more scores. However Brides finished the stronger of the two teams with Darrin Kearney making some great saves in the Gers nets.
Tough night for our men but they never stopped busting a gut throughout to their credit.
