Our Mens 3rd Team where in Kilkerley on Tuesday night as they took to the field against Kilkerley Emmets.
A slow start from the Gers allowed Kilkerley to tip one over the bar. The opening score for us was a free kick from Skube O'Brien that fell short allowed Bryan Soraghan to get the first of his two majors. From there Kilkerley grew stronger and added to their lead. We pegged back them with points from Neil Gartlan And Oran O’Hanlon at the break but Kilkerley led by 8 points.
The Gers kicked into another gear in the 2nd half with Bryan Soraghan getting his second with a lovely low finish. Skube and Neil Gartlan added more points as the Gers kept chipping away at the Kilkerley lead.
Tireless work from Shane Thornton in midfield saw the Gers draw level with a Neil Gartlan goal. However, heart break was to follow for our men as Kilkerley added a winning point right at the death to win by a point.
Tremendous effort from the lads but unfortunate not to come away with a share of the spoils.
Next week the 3rd team travel to play Annaghminnon Rovers away.
