No Away Day Blues in Drogheda

The u16 girls travelled to the Newtown Blues for their final game of the first phase of the league on Monday. The girls started brightly and enjoyed the lions share of possession in the first 15 minutes before the water break, but were unable to convert that into scores due to some wayward finishing and good goalkeeping. However the second quarter would prove pivotal to the outcome with some clinical play resulting in the ball hitting the back of the net on 4 occasions.

The second half followed a similar pattern with lots of possession due to the hard work being put in on the field by all. Some great interplay, support play and passing resulted in some fantastic scores while our defence gave nothing away to our gallant opponents when they attacked our goals. The girls displayed great determination throughout and were willing to put their bodies on the line for their team and ran out worthy winners on a score line of 4-13 to 1-05.

Well done to the girls who all played a part in the victory with thanks to our mentors & all the parents and supporters for their continuous encouragement.
