The Gers U12 boys had a well-deserved victory against St. Josephs in Darver on Wednesday evening.

The Dromiskin lads started brightly and had 3 points on the board before Hugo Nolan hit the net to settle some early nerves. Tiernan Bradley followed up with the first of his 2 goals on the night to ensure the lads had their noses in front coming into the first water break.

The Joe’s lads again started the next quarter well with some well taken scores before Sean Spaight finished off a well-worked move with a clinical finish. Joe’s countered with 2 further points to leave the Haggardstown outfit ahead by a point at half time.

With a slight breeze at their backs, the Gers lads played their best football of the night in the 3rd quarter and registered 6 unanswered points, including 2 well-taken scores from Roan Norton. Sean Spaight also registered 3 points, and finished with an impressive 1-4 in an another excellent performance. Tiernan then added his 2nd goal of the night to leave a bit of daylight between the sides coming into the 2nd water break.

The 4th quarter was an even affair with some further nice scores from both teams including a goal from Joe Lynch to keep the Gers team ahead coming into the final whistle.

There were many good performances throughout the field.

Jacub Perkowski made some vital saves in an impressive performance, Jack Kavanagh had a solid outing in defence, alongside Rónán Duggan who made a welcome return from injury.

James Scanlon had a typical commanding performance and Roan Carroll, Hugo Nolan, Roan Norton, and Oliver Kerley also caught the eye in a satisfactory evening’s football.
