U13 Boys A Championship

Geraldines U13 Boys travelled to Pairc Cusack in Tullyallen on Wednesday night in an entertaining game with two fully committed teams ensuring the result was in the balance until the final quarter.

The Gers boys knew they needed a good start away to the recent Division 1 league champions and did so with good disciplined tackling, moving the ball well from defence to attack ensuring we moved into a 2 point lead. Glen Emmets then fought themselves back into the game using their good interplay to take control until the first water break scoring 1-6 in the process as Gers could only respond with a point.

The next quarter was immense from the Gers as our boys bravely battled back into the game and inspired by fine goalkeeping, tenacious defending and good midfield play, our forwards came alive with a superb goal and 3 well worked points to draw level as we frustrated the opposition with a great never say die attitude. We even had further chances to take the lead but Glen Emmets finished the scoring to lead by a point at half time 1-7 to 1-6.

In the third quarter the Gers continued where they left off, matching Glen Emmets point for point leaving it 1-10 to 1-9 at the end of the third quarter.

Unfortunately the final quarter belonged to Glen Emmets as their second goal proved vital as they pinned the Gers into their own half for long periods. The Gers lads kept battling but Glen Emmets finished strongly with another goal to end up deserving winners despite a fine overall display by the Gers.

Final score Glen Emmets 3-12 Geraldines 1-9.

This brings an end to our Championship. Congrats to Glen Emmets. We will take a break for the next 2 weeks and then get back to training and further matches to ensure we learn from the these matches and further develop these talented group of boys.
