Championship Win for U16 Girls

The Gers girls got their championship campaign back on track with a hard fought win against an inform St. Pats side in Lordship on Wednesday evening. Despite a bright start to the game, a couple of lapses in concentration resulted in the concession of 2 goals in quick succession midway through the first half to leave the Gers behind at half time. A fine score straight from the restart gave the girls renewed vigour and they would have a very strong 15 minutes, going in at the water break with a 5 point lead. An end to end final quarter saw the Gers miss some good scoring opportunities while the Pats applied great pressure on the Gers goal to bring an exciting end to the match. The girls were deserving victors on a score line of 2-12 to 3-06, against a very tough team. The overall display was full of grit and character in a very physical encounter. Well done to all of the girls for their efforts and to all who came and supported.
