Our u15 Feile Boys had an enjoyable morning in DKiT and would bow out at the semifinal stage to the eventual winners Mattock/Hunterstown. Our opening fixture was against Oliver Plunketts and in a game where the boys had the lions share of possession, a combination of hitting the post and crossbar and missed scoring opportunities would cost them and they would lose by a single point scored with the last kick of the game (2-04 to 3-02). In the second match against Glen Emmets the boys kept their noses in front throughout and were deserving winners on a score line of 2-02 to 1-03. Our final group match was against a Brides/Mochtas combination, and knowing that a win would get us into the cup semi finals the boys gave an assured performance to ensure progression against gallant opposition (1-05 to 1-00). Next up was a semi final against Mattock/Hunterstown and the boys enjoyed a promising start but failure to convert their early chances would be punished by a very good opponent who had a good halftime lead. In fairness to the boys they showed plenty of character and battled gamely to the end. In total 22 boys played across the 4 games in very warm conditions. The boys will have learned a lot from the games and who knows what might have been had they had the rub of the green. Thanks to all who played today and to all who came out and supported.
