22 girls travelled to play in @louthlgfa Div 1 Feile on Saturday in St. Fechins. Two other clubs competed in division 1. The games were played 15 minutes each way and our 1st game was against St. Patricks Lordship. In a tight opening half the Gers failed to capitalise on a few good goal chances but tenacious defending and a hard working midfield kept us ahead. After the break the girls were more clinical in front of goal and opened up a good lead and picked up the win. This game was followed up immediately with a match against Cooley which the Peninsula girls won comfortably.
Cooley beat the Pats in the final group match to set up a rematch with Cooley in the final. Cooley got off to a very strong start and opened up a commanding 1st half lead. The Gers girls made a determined comeback in the 2nd half with some great attacking play and some brilliant defensive work but the early Cooley lead was just too much to make up.
All 22 girls received at least one full match out of the three played and all played their part well. It was great to see girls who haven't played together since last year as they were divided between u14 and u16 squads this year play so well as a team.
