The U12 boys continued their U12 campaign with their final group game against St. Pats on Saturday evening. 24 Gers lads turned out on another perfect evening for football in Haggardstown. The home team got off to a bright start as Sean Spaight (2) and Joe Lynch (1) registered some early points. Rory Power scored a goal with a well taken finish, before a beautiful pass from Joe Lynch had him though on goal and he made no mistake for his second goal of the quarter. The second quarter continued in the same manner, with Sean Spaight and Roan Norton finding the net, as Joe Lynch and Rónán Duggan added a point each to keep the score-board ticking over. Rory Power added another point to finish with brilliant 2-1 for the evening. After half time, Cillian McKevitt and Hugo Nolan came on a helped themselves to a point each, as Sean Spaight found the net twice more to round off another wonderful performance. The St. Pats lads kept battling to the end and it was a good game of football as all the Gers lads contributed to a home victory. Defensively the Geraldines were solid at the back. Aaron O’Donoghue was impressive as ever, James Scanlon gave a wonderful performance and was always alert to any danger, Daniel Hanna caught the eye with his usual tenacious tackling and superb use of the ball while captain Jack Kavanagh led from the front with his usual high energy performance. There were numerous many fine individual performances, and in all it was a team effort and an enjoyable outing and satisfactory result. This result brings the Gers through to the knock-out stages as group winners. Comghairdeas do na gasuraí agus GRMA @PatsGFC for travelling.
