GIRLS U 13 Final Phase League

After last week's win over Kilkerley, the girls travelled to St.Kevins on Sunday morning to wrap up the first phase of U13 league matches. The two teams were level with 3 wins each before the game. It was St.Kevins who started the brighter scoring 1-02. After a couple of positional changes Aoife S charged down the field to score the opening point for the Gers. Soon after Aoife F scored a fine goal. We finished the half strongly by leading 1-07 to 1-03. At the start of the second half St.Kevins immediately narrowed the gap scoring a goal. We hit back with a point to lead by two. It was an entertaining second half by both teams with a good tussle up and down the pitch. We had good play by Laura, Julie, Megan, Ava, Sarah and Ailish, but everyone played very well. Then with two minutes remaining a penalty was awarded to St.Kevins. The steely-eyed Dino "Kate" Zoff stared down the penalty taker, before moving to her right to deny the score. The Gers tagged on two more scores to leave it 1-10 to 2-03 at the finish. Scorers on the day were Aoife F 1-01, Ava 0-03, Aoife S 0-02, Bianca 0-02, Anna and Laura 1point each. Eimear, Phoebe, Meabh, Leah, Anna, Blaithin and Zoe all played well. As did our under 12s Aimee, Anna, Ailbhe and Emily. In all eleven U12s have contributed over the last few games. We now move on to phase2, where we hope to keep up the good work.
