Gers under 9‘s Finish on a High in Darver🙌

The Gers under 9’s travelled to Darver for the final all county blitz of the year on Thursday night. Once again we fielded 2 teams with 20 lads all getting equal game time. Both teams played 3 games each, playing teams from St. Kevins, Sean McDermotts, Lann Leire, Wolfe Tones, St. Pats and Mattock Rangers. The lads did superb, and were strong and ultra-competitive in all games. The fact that they were taking part in an U10 blitz, and playing up against players a year older, will aid these lads in their development. Management were really happy with the tenaciousness in their tackling, their passing, and their ability to bisect the goalposts when the opportunity arose. This was in no doubt incentivised by the promises of some goodies after the blitz, that the lads and management lapped up. Thank you to Uncle Tom’s Cabin for sponsoring the drinks, crisps and sweets. Special word of thanks to Louth Coaching and Games, in particular Mairead Monahan who organised the blitzes over the past 5 weeks. We will be continuing their development over the winter months with a programme focusing on Fundamental Games Skills in DKIT Sport, details to follow. The players have progressed in leaps and bounds this year, it has been a pleasure to work with them.
