Gers u15 girls made it two wins out of three in division one in a thrilling game played in difficult conditions in Hunterstown on Saturday morning. Both teams played out a great game despite heavy rain and a strong wind.

Hunterstown had the aid of a strong wind in the first half but the Geraldines girls played extremely well against the wind with some great passing and patient football and some fine point scoring and the teams were tied level 0-3 each at the 1st water break.

In the 2nd quarter the Hunterstown girls took good advantage of the wind to record a further 2-4 to a one point reply from the girls in green.

Trailing by 9 the Geraldines girls played with real determination all over the field in the 2nd half. With wind advantage they dominated the 3rd quarter scoring three points but were very unlucky in hitting the woodwork several times and still trailed by 6 going in to the final quarter.

They showed great resilience by continuing to press the opposition all over the field. The defence was outstanding in repelling counter attacks and the midfielders worked tirelessly to keep a stranglehold on possession. The forwards all stuck to their tasks and were not deterred by bad luck and some wides and their perseverance was rewarded with 2-1 in the final quarter win the game by a point. Final Score: Hunterstown Rovers 2-7 Geraldines 2-8

Both teams battled hard right to the final whistle and put on a great display for the hardy supporters in attendance. Well done to the girls who, despite a tough start in the gradings games, they have atended training in great numbers and worked really hard. Every single player is continuing to improve and they are really developing together as a team
