The Geraldines u9 boys enjoyed a big day out on May Bank Holiday Monday at the Keeva Kelly Memorial Tournament hosted by Inniskeen Grattens. The rain held off for a great morning of football as 22 boys in all togged out and competed strongly against teams from all over the surrounding counties in a well organised event.

The Gers boys went straight into action against a well organised Crossmaglen Rangers side. It took a few minutes for the boys to get to the tempo of the game but once settled they began competing well against this very strong Armagh team. Next it was straight into a great game with hosts Inniskeen, another strong, disciplined team, where the now battle-hardened boys were a little more clinical up front. With no time for rest, next up was a very tight affair against a skilled Kingscourt. It was neck and neck throughout the first half with the Cavan side. A few fresh legs helped maintain a competitive edge in the second half.

Spurred on by some light refreshments and a well-earned break the boys were back in action against another disciplined Cavan side, Mullahoran. The boys now well settled and energised didn’t look back as they put on a very strong display before continuing that strong vein of form against a very good side from Cooley.

Each boy collected their first, of what we are sure will be many, medals having all played exceptionally well against the brightest and best from four Counties. The coaches were pleased with the way the boys played. They are a credit to the club and the community.

GRMA to Inniskeen Grattens for hosting a very good day out. Thanks also to all parents, coaches and boys for a memorable occasion.
