U14 Boys: All square in U15 Div 3 league tie with Dundalk Gaels

Nothing could seperate both teams after 60 mins on Wednesday night in McGeough Park as 11 goals flew into the nets in a high scoring encounter. The Gaels drew first blood with a goal from the throw in and their incisive power runners through the middle caused us problems as it was the first of 4 goals they scored in the first half. However it wasn’t long before the Gers had goals of our own as Sean McKenna with a double, Aswanth Sivarman (well set up by Conor Whitmarsh) and Eoghan Sweeney all added

goals as the Gers settled down to play some lovely incisive football going forward with great teamwork. Finn and Mal Madine were on top in midfield, helped by fine kickouts from keeper Oran Garavaglia and Odhran McShane punished any Gaels indiscretions with expert place kicking scoring 3 points leaving the half time score 4-6 to 4-3 in our favour.

Early in the second half started we were unfortunate to lose some vital players to injury. However the defence stood firm with excellent displays from Aodhan Gibbons, Thomas Quinn-Stuttard, Jack Greene, Owen McGahon, Sean Costigan and Connor Ward. Aaron Walsh worked hard in the forward line and Finn Madine scored a fine goal and Maciek Dobros added 2 well taken points from play to leave us 4 up with a few mins to play. Unfortunately as we tried to close out the game we were caught on the break for a late 1-1 as both teams fought to the end. Overall a fine battling display by the young Gers boys. Here’s hoping for more of the same when we meet our neighbours the Brides in Knockbridge on Monday.

Final score: Geraldines 5-8 Dundalk Gaels 6-5
