The u13 boys had a visit to Roche Emmets on Monday to continue their league campaign.
The match was a tight affair, with both teams showing great effort & determination in a well contested match.
Gers had a bright start & got into an early lead thanks to a Rónán Duggan point & a James Scanlon goal. Roche responded with 1:2 in quick succession to get their noses in front. Oliver Kerley & Hugo Nolan got a foothold in midfield & that was the platform for a Gers flurry of scores to finish out the half, thanks to another 1:1 from James Scanlon who impressed at full forward & another Rónán Duggan point, along with the final score of the half from Danny de Lasa who raised the green flag with a fine effort.
The Gers continued where they left off in the 2nd half & scored a further 2:2 to extend their lead. This time Hugo Nolan helped himself to a point, while Roan Norton also raised the green flag, along with a further goal from Mr.Duggan & a point from Mr.Scanlon.
Roche did manage to register the last 2:2 of the match, but the Haggardstown lads held on to win with a final scoreline of 5:5 to 3:4.
In addition to the lads who scored, it was a fine team effort & all the lads played their part.
The Gers full-back line of Rónán Kenny, Niall Coleman & Sam Murphy played solidly & kept the Roche attack at bay. Seán Garvey was also very impressive when introduced.
The half back line of John Smith, Ross Nordon & Seán Murphy battled hard all match. Conal Gaughran brought some needed energy in the second half.
Oliver and Hugo did well in midfield & both also had a spell in full back, as Niall moved out to get a taste of midfield action.
Cillian McKevitt, Rory Power and Oscar Little ran the their legs off & got involved in some good team moves.
Up front Jake Shelley, Harry Melaniphy & Patrick Muckian were a constant threat & dangerous when they got on the ball.
It was a satisfactory performance & all lads went home with smiles on their faces.
