Another impressive performance for the Gers boys under 15’s.

Our u15 boys followed up last weeks win over the Joe's with a comprehensive win against Newtown blues at McGeough park on Wednesday night in their Louth GAA U15 div 1 encounter.

The home team set the tone early on with Ryan McCutcheon unmarkable at the top of the square bagging 3 goals before the break - the ammunition provided by Jamie Soraghan, David Clune, Eoghan O Brien and Ralph Tinsley.
The always busy Cillian Lynch and Alex O Kane also contributed 1-1 apiece as the Gers finished the first 30 minutes with a fine total of 5-2 while keeping their opponents to a single point thanks to the usual excellent work rate in defence, especially from Shea Neary, Cormac Broe and Cillian Forrester.

The lads could’ve been forgiven for taking their foot of the pedal after the interval, but they kept going winning the second half by 1-9 to 2-3, with fine scores from Jamie Soraghan, Shea Neary and Cormac Broe while Cillian Lynch’s excellent effort throughout was rewarded with a goal.

The tackling from the team to regularly win back possession was a feature of their play - Cormac Broe, Padraig Corcoran and Evyn O Callaghan in goal all using their skills to get the team back on the front foot.

As always, everyone contributed to the victory. Eoin Rodgers, Evan Hoey and Darragh Kenny all played their part while our under 14’s also added something from the bench - Jack Greene, Mal and Finn Madine , Aswanth Sivarman and Aodhan Gibbons all contributed and should be pushing for places in the squad when championship comes around in August.

Final score, Geraldines 6-12, Newtown Blues 2-4.
The victory means that the lads have secured a league semi final place, having won four out of six games. Their final league match is away to Stabannon/O'Connell's on Monday week.
