Monaghan Under 16 League

Round 1: Scotstown 5-10 vs Geraldines 5-4

The Geraldines Under 16 girls were beaten in their first league game of the Monaghan league against a solid Scotstown outfit.

Our girls got off to the worst possible start conceding 3-2 in the first few minutes before settling down and slowly clawing their way back into the game. They scored a number of excellent goals themselves and narrowed the gap to four points late in the first half before conceding a fifth goal on the stroke of halftime.

The weather conditions were atrocious in the first half and although the hailstorm ended, we, unfortunately, had to play into a powerful wind in the second half. The girls played much better and defended heroically, restricting their opponents to six points. We did score another 2-1 but ultimately the better team won and we know the Monaghan League will prove invaluable in improving our standards.

We want to say a well done to all and we now look forward to a Louth league match at home on Wednesday against St. Fechins.
