Gers u15 boys played an exciting away Div 1 league game against a strong St. Fechins team on Wednesday evening. St. Fechins had the upper hand in the first half but our lads defended resolutely and showed some glimpses of some fine team moves typified by a fine Sean McKenna goal. We trailed by 3pts at half time but the boys dug deep in the 2nd half matching great attitude with incisive team play. Aswanth Sivaraman and Finn Madine powered us on from midfield, Aswanth finishing with 4 points from play (2 with his right foot and 2 with his left foot so practice pays off!)

Eoghan Sweeney and Aodhan Gibbons added further goals as we held on for a 3 point victory. Jakub Perkowski was solid throughout making one excellent fingertip save. Full back line of Ronan Traynor, Noah Lauaki and Thomas Quinn Stuttard marked tight with some great blocks. Half backs Connor Ward, Jack Greene, Mal Madine and Mylka Kabangu read the game well attacking when opportunities arose. Half forwards Maciek Dobros, Owen McGahon and Aodhan Gibbons won vital possession and linked the play well. Our inside forwards Sean McKenna (who finished with a fine tally of 1-6), Conall Bowden, Eoghan Traynor, Eoghan Sweeney and Conor Whitmarsh all led the line effectively, showing well for the ball. It was great to see the return of Aaron Walsh after a long term injury who won a vital free near the end of the game. Well done lads - next game v O’Raghallaighs in McGeough Park next Wednesday.
