Geraldines Vs Mochtas/St.brides Minor League Rd 2:
After an impressive win previously away from home the Gers lads started strong, scoring a goal within the first few moments by midfielder Ralf Tinsley. The versatile David Clune then kicked a well taken point on his left foot from centre forward.
The Gers then conceded a few sloppy scores allowing the combination side shoot from distance who were aided by a strong breeze. However Ryan McCutheon was on hand to palm home a very well worked move down the right hand side by Cian Spaight and Cillian Lynch. Jamie Soraghan then kicked a fine score after a few good scores from the Brides/Mochtas . The Gers went in at half time 2-3 to 6 in front but were frustrated with some passes that went astray and found it hard to break down the Mochtas/Brides who conceded every kickout.
The lads came out with a different impetuous in the second half with Cian Spaight and Callum Boothman keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Shea Neary, Cormac Broe and Cathal Fee set the tone in defence as they forced some great turnovers and began moving the ball quicker in transition.
The Gers were helped by a strong bench and Oliver Begley netted for the third goal on the night after some good scores by the Brides/Mochtas and a few great saves by Cian O’Donoghue. Jamie Soraghan then scored 1-3 without reply, one of which was set up by the hard working Cian Farrell from wing back.
The score of the night came when Ralf Tinsley played an inviting Crossfield pass to Callum Boothman who picked out Cian Spaight for a well taken finish to the net. It was great to get another win and all twenty one players made an impact when used. Round three is at home to Naomh Mairtin on Friday at 8.00PM.
