Top Performance by Gers U14 Girls

It's been a tough season for our u14 girls so far but everything came good in Monday nights semi final performance against Naomh Mairtin.

Following on from their high scoring and narrow victory over the Finbarrs the previous week, the girls continued their good form with another well deserved win.

After a slow start, we were 2 goals down, but the girls found their way up the field with some quick passing and replied with some great scores. With a half back line of Aoibhe, Ailbhe & Eva - these girls joined the attack at every opportunity. The hard working half forward line of Elizabeth, Aoife & Anna were able to take scores as well as supplying the full forwards of Nessa, Alannah & Muireann. The Gers had a well deserved lead at half time.

From the minute the 2nd half started, our opponents had us under pressure closing the gap to a single point. But with brilliant defending from Fia, Miliani and Lily Mae, who replaced Abbie in the full back line, and with Eábha joining the forwards, it was as close as the Martins got with some goal line saves and great kick outs from Katy. Aimee and Emily were hardworking in midfield. They carried the ball out of danger and joined the scoreboard to see the game out on a scoreline of 5.08 to 4.05.

It was a hugely entertaining match, and the desire to win saw the girls triumph over their gallant opponents.

Well done to each and every girl who did not give up 👏. They were worthy winners and look forward to contesting the final in a couple of weeks time 👏
