Gers u15 boys lost out by a point in their Div 1 league game v Naomh Mairtin on Monday evening in McGeough Park. Our lads got off to a bad start conceding a goal after 30 seconds. We settled down to play some good football with some well taken scores. Unfortunately the high ball into our defence was causing problems and the Martins scored 2 more fortuitous goals. The Gers lads’ heads didn’t drop and we hit back to score some fine points leaving the half time score 3-2 to 0-6 . The second half seemed to be following a similar pattern as 2 more goals were conceded but our lads kept chipping away and clawed their way back into the game with 2 quality goals of their own levelling the game with 5 mins to go. The Martins managed to win a free and went a point up and hard as the Gers tried we couldn’t find another score before the final whistle. Despite losing the lads dominated possession and showed great character in fighting back.
